Tax Senior/Supervisor - Knoxville, TN

Working under general supervision, a senior accountant works to expand their technical expertise in the area of tax and begins to assume a leadership role in client engagements by completing and reviewing tax returns, completing complex areas of larger engagements, and gathering information for tax audits.

Technical

• Assumes responsibility for small tax returns 
• Completes more complex areas of larger engagements
• Assists in gathering information for tax audits and other tax compliance engagements
• Develops the ability to identify relevant areas of opportunity for an engagement
• Develops skills related to reviewing workpapers and completed tax returns to assure compliance with firm standards
• Identifies and resolves problems before submission of the engagement’s workpapers and tax returns
• Develops expertise in preparing workpapers and tax returns
• Develops knowledge of complex corporate and individual income tax matters where appropriate
• Develops thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements, federal and state tax rules, and specialized industry regulations
• Develops proficiency in applicable software
• Develops research techniques and the documentation of research conclusion

Qualifications  

• Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Accounting
• Approximately three to six years experience as a staff accountant, or related experience 
• Completion of all or majority of Level I tax curriculum, with an agreed plan to complete with timeliness where coursework remains 
• Experience in assisting staff and interns 
• Actively pursuing CPA certification
