Patrick Terry is an assurance principal in Decosimo’s Atlanta office. He has over 20 years of professional leadership experience in public accounting with international, regional and local firms. Before joining Decosimo, Patrick was the president and founder of a financial firm providing services to small and mid-sized businesses.
He has significant experience working with a variety of industries, including governmental, technology, consumer finance, not-for-profit, manufacturing and distribution and professional service. He has a depth of knowledge from assisting organizations with financial reporting, tax matters, internal controls, employee benefit plans, federal grant compliance, tax exempt bond offerings, policies and procedures, efficiency and effectiveness, executive compensation and information technology.
During his career, Patrick served as the senior manager on the audits of The City of LaGrange, Georgia, Cherokee County Board of Education, Rome City Schools, Fulton County Board of Education and Bartow County Board of Education. Audits of these organizations, of which the largest was in excess of $1 billion in net assets, included school activity funds, Single Audits, enterprise funds (including utility and solid waste management), and various state related programs. As a senior manager, he was responsible for the overall relationship with the organization, as well as the audit engagement, which included up to five staff. Throughout the audit engagement, including planning, execution, wrap-up and reporting, Patrick was integrally involved in the decision process related to Single Audit determination, applicable compliance requirements for major programs, internal controls and other required testing.
Patrick is a graduate of Kennesaw State University. He received his certified public accountant (CPA) certification in 1992 and is licensed to practice in Georgia. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA), the MIT Enterprise Forum, the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), Georgia BIO and the Technology Association of Georgia. He currently serves on the advisory board of the accounting school at Kennesaw State University.
