Cole Powell, a principal and the firm’s due diligence practice leader, has 25 years experience providing assurance and financial consulting services. His clients include public, privately held and not-for-profit hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, home health agencies, physical therapy and rehab organizations, psychiatric providers, physician organizations, assisted living facilities, imaging companies, provider management companies with annual revenues ranging from $5 million to over a $1 billion.
In recent years, he has overseen or provided project leader services in approximately 50 buy-side due diligence engagements. As a professional service provider, he strives to represent his buyer/seller, private equity group, attorney or lender clients by adding value in the form of best practice processes and procedures, specialized industry advice, findings, timely communications, and team accountability.
Prior to joining Decosimo, Cole held leadership positions in national and regional accounting firms. Multi- and single location clients served include for-profit and not-for-profit hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, home health agencies, physical therapy and rehab organizations, psychiatric providers, physician organizations, assisted living facilities, HUD-financed properties, payors, application service providers, and provider management companies in various states.
Cole earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Auburn University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) licensed in Tennessee, Georgia, California and Alabama. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA), the Association of Due Diligence Professionals and is a Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
Cole has written articles for Healthcare Financial Management, for whom he has been a technical article reviewer, the Georgia Scroll, Decosimo Advisory Review and Decosimo’s Present Value e-newsletter. He has completed presentations on financial topics for the Georgia Hospital Association, the Georgia chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, Chattanooga State, the Tennessee chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and the Healthcare Executive Invitation Forum. In his primary community service commitment Cole serves as Treasurer, Finance Committee Chairman and as a board member for the Greater Chattanooga Public Television Corporation.
