Tax Principal
 John focuses on federal and international taxation, both business and personal. Prior to joining Decosimo, John served twelve years as an Internal Revenue Service field agent, and twelve years as a corporate controller of a construction firm.
John also works in the firm’s recruiting efforts, visiting colleges and universities throughout the region seeking the next generation of Decosimo professionals. He works closely with colleges of business and accounting departments to educate students on the benefits of working in public accounting and with one of the ten fastest growing CPA firms in America.
He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and its tax section, as well as a member, past director and past treasurer of the Chattanooga Chapter of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants. He also has memberships with the Institute of Management Accountants, Chattanooga Tax Practitioners and the Estate Planning Council of Chattanooga.
John is a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Chattanooga. He is a current board member of both the Public School Bible Study Committee and First Things First. Past board memberships include Chattanooga Christian School, Chattanooga Goodwill Industries, Inc. and Community Reconciliation, Inc.
John earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Accounting) from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is a certified public accountant in the state of Tennessee and a certified management accountant.
