Tom Decosimo, a principal with Decosimo, has advised clients on transactions totaling more than $15 billion throughout the United States and Europe. A certified public accountant (CPA) since 1980, he has spent the last 18 years providing business valuation, litigation support, and transaction advisory services to a large variety of businesses. Tom is CEO and managing director of Decosimo Corporate Finance, LLC (DCF), a mid-market investment bank specializing in sell-side advisory, which is a member firm of FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority)/SIPC.

Tom’s business valuation experience is tied closely to mergers and acquisitions, the placement of debt and equity financing, family business succession planning, and estate planning. His industry experience includes light and heavy industrial manufacturing, textiles, floor covering, consumer products, food processing, broadcasting, professional firms, and distribution.

Corporate finance services performed by Tom include purchase price negotiations, analysis and restatement of historical statements of operations, due diligence services, financial forecasts, and structured financings. His industry experience includes manufacturing, Major League Baseball, financial institutions, real estate, and substantial experience in soft drink bottling.

He has been involved in the valuation of numerous soft-drink bottlers and has given expert testimony in shareholder lawsuits. In 1988, Tom was the expert witness for the Coca-Cola Company in its landmark diet Coke lawsuit that required over 90 valuations and required more than two years to complete. In 2010, Tom testified in U.S. Tax Court regarding discounts for lack of marketability.

During 1999, he was awarded the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) designation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The ABV designation recognizes CPAs with extensive professional expertise and experience in business valuation. He has also earned the Accredited Senior Appraiser (Business Valuation) designation of the American Society of Appraisers.

Tom is immediate past Chairman of Richmont Graduate University Board of Trustees, 2013 United Way of Greater Chattanooga Campaign Chairman and Finance Chairman for U.S. Congressman Chuck Fleischman, TN 3rd District.
