Nick Decosimo, CPA - Nick Decosimo has more than 30 years of experience in public accounting. He became a partner in 1981 and was the head of the audit department for more than a decade before succeeding the firm’s co-founder Jerry Adams as the firm’s managing principal. Mr. Decosimo’s clients include public and privately held businesses headquartered throughout the United States. Industry experience includes financial institutions and manufacturing companies. Mr. Decosimo has also served as the head of the firm's Family Business practice. In that capacity he has worked closely with clients providing advice related to management issues and corporate structures. Mr. Decosimo has been involved with numerous public offerings and significant debt placements. He also assists his clients with domestic and international mergers and acquisitions from both the purchase and the sell side.
Tom Decosimo, CPA•ABV, ASA - Tom Decosimo has spent more than 25 years providing corporate finance services to a wide variety of businesses. Mr. Decosimo’s business valuation experience has been tied closely with sell-side and buy-side transaction advice and the placement of debt and equity financing. Industry experience includes light and heavy industrial manufacturing, textiles, floor covering, consumer products, food processing, broadcasting, professional firms and distribution. He has been involved in the valuation of numerous soft-drink bottlers and has given expert testimony in shareholder lawsuits. In 1988, Mr. Decosimo was the expert witness for the Coca-Cola Company in its landmark diet Coke lawsuit that required over 90 valuations. Mr. Decosimo earned the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants designation of Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) in 1999. Tom is also an Accredited Senior Appraiser in business valuation (ASA), the credential of the American Society of Appraisers. He also has his Series 7, 24 and 64 security licenses.
Barry Hoffman, CPA - As the firm’s senior tax principal, Barry Hoffman has 40 years experience in federal, state and related income tax matters. Mr. Hoffman has extensive experience in the areas of individual, partnership and corporate tax compliance and planning, technical research, and sophisticated financial and estate planning for high-net-worth families. He represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service and has handled major cases at the appeals level and in tax court litigation.
Karl Jordan, CPA - Karl Jordan has more than 30 years of experience in tax, auditing and corporate finance consulting services. He is also the Director in Charge of Moore Stephens Decosimo Cayman Limited, the firm’s Grand Cayman office. Mr. Jordan has extensive experience in providing services to financial institutions, private investment partnerships, alternative investment partnerships, hedge funds, broker/dealers, real estate companies, captive insurance, investment companies, family offices and high net worth individuals. He is active in the firm’s family office operations, in which services include merger and acquisition consultation, and financial planning and estate considerations. His investment partnership experience includes initial setup, accounting systems and procedures consultations, regulatory assistance and other related management planning and consultations. Mr. Jordan has actively worked with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Resolution Trust Corporation in closing in excess of 65 financial institutions. He has also worked with the Securities and Exchange Commission and other governmental regulatory authorities, including the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
Mike Vaden, CPA - Mike Vaden is the Director of Decosimo Vaden, the entertainment and sports business management practice of the firm. For 35 years, Mr. Vaden has applied his expertise in royalty accounting, tax planning and financial management to all areas of the entertainment industry. Mike’s specialized services to music professionals include concert tour accounting, royalty audits, tax planning and compliance, investment analysis, business management assistance and catalog valuation. Mr. Vaden understands the complex tax transactions and estate planning issues that present challenges for high-net-worth individuals, particularly entertainers and entertainment industry professionals.
