Cincinnati Office Announces Key Management Changes

Kathy Mitts to Succeed Paul Cheney as Managing Principal and Chris Flaig Named Principal in Charge of Assurance Services

CINCINNATI (January 17, 2012)–Decosimo has named Kathy Mitts, CPA, as managing principal of the accounting and business advisory firm’s Cincinnati office as part of a strategic plan addressing succession goals.

"Kathy has played an active role in the management of our Cincinnati office since joining the firm in 2003," said Nick Decosimo, firmwide managing principal. "Having Kathy succeed Paul Cheney as the office’s managing principal was a natural progression and will allow for continuity in leadership and assure a smooth transition while Paul remains an active principal with the firm."

Ms. Mitts has more than 20 years experience in public accounting, specifically in the tax planning and compliance area. She was named one of the Top 10 Women Accountants in Cincinnati by Women’s Business Magazine in 2011 and has been recognized as a Five Star Wealth Manager by Cincinnati Magazine annually since 2009. As managing principal, Ms. Mitts is responsible for the administration, daily operation and organization of the Cincinnati office.

Paul Cheney, CPA•ABV, CFF, CMC, established the Cincinnati office of Decosimo in 1985 after moving from the firm’s Chattanooga, Tenn. headquarters. Now serving as Senior Principal-Cincinnati, Mr. Cheney will focus on business development efforts and corporate finance services for the firm’s clients.

Other management changes for the CPA firm’s Cincinnati office include the promotion of Chris Flaig, CPA, to Principal in Charge of Assurance Services. Mr. Flaig, who also serves as the firm’s government niche leader, joined Decosimo’s Cincinnati Assurance practice in 2007. He has more than 20 years experience providing audit and other assurance services to clients in a number of industries including government, not-for-profit, retail, distribution and marketing.
