CHATTANOOGA, TN (July 12, 2011)– Three professionals from Joseph Decosimo and Company, PLLC in Chattanooga, have been appointed to leadership roles for the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) for the 2011-2012 year. Reappointed for a second year, Mike Costello, CPA, ABV, CFF, CFE, ASA, principal, will serve as Chairman of the TSCPA’s Forensic & Valuation Services Committee. Charles Groves, CPA, principal in charge of operations, will serve as Secretary on the Board of Directors. Kim Lawrence, CPA, tax principal in charge, will serve as Chairman of the Women’s Initiatives Committee. Mr. Costello is the director of strategic transition planning and litigation services for Decosimo Advisory Services, a division of Joseph Decosimo and Company, and has more than 28 years of consulting experience in business valuations, business acquisitions and divestitures, and related fields. Mike has served as president of the Chattanooga Chapter of TSCPA and chairman of the TSCPA’s Ethics and Small Business Services Committees. Ms. Lawrence has 23 years experience in tax practice and is actively involved in the firm’s tax compliance practice, which includes review of partnership, corporate, state, consolidated, and individual tax returns, tax planning and tax consultation. She served as the 2010-2011 president of the Chattanooga Chapter of the TSCPA and currently serves as the Board Chair of Girls, Inc. Mr. Groves is the firm’s principal in charge of operations, helping the managing principal implement and monitor strategies for continued firm growth. He has more than 30 years of audit experience with Decosimo and was previously the principal in charge of the assurance practice. He currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Department of Accounting at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and the Advisory Committee for Accounting Technology at Chattanooga State Community College. He has served on the Board of Directors of the TSCPA and its Peer Review and Professional Development Committees. Mr. Groves is also past president of the Chattanooga Chapter of the TSCPA.
